1536981 Dumping acid from batteries GENERAL BATTERY CORP 3 March 1977 [22 March 1976] 09248/77 Heading H1B Acid is emptied from batteries 204 by positioning them on a roller conveyer 122 in drum 10, gripping them by pneumatic clamps 74, and then rotating the drum by pneumatic tyres 30. PTFE baffles 100, 102 form a sealed chamber to keep the acid away from, e.g. the conveyer gearing 126, 128, and the air lines. The drum is tilted to allow acid to flow from a spout 208 at one end of the drum. Brackets on the drum act as stops and shake the batteries when they engage the tyres. |
