The packaging for books or brochures is composed of corrugated-cardboard portions (1, 3, 4) which are connected to one another and are arranged with respect to one another such that, adjacent to a bearing surface for the book (9), they form flaps which are intended to be folded over the book. The corrugations of any two neighbouring flaps run at right angles to one another, with the result that the flaps on all four sides can be folded over along lines (5, 6, 7, 8) which are predetermined by the corrugations in the corrugated-cardboard portions. A large corrugated-cardboard portion (1), on the mutually opposite edges, at the longitudinal centre, of which there are fastened two smaller corrugated-cardboard portions (3, 4) of the same width as the book, is wider, in the direction parallel to the corrugations, than the bearing surface of the book (9). At each of the mutually opposite sides, this corrugated-cardboard portion forms a crease zone, by means of which the large corrugated-cardboard portion projects at the edge, beyond the corrugated-cardboard portion which was first of all folded inwards, with the result that the book corners are protected. <IMAGE>
