Telephone dialling mechanism for disabled people - uses coded plate and lever to convert rotary to linear motion

The dialling mechanism helps disabled people dial telephone numbers by using a lever to rotate the rotary dial. The lever (7) has a pin (8) that travels down a series of parallel slots the length of which represents the distance through which the dial must rotate for any wanted digit. The lever is linked to the dial by a wire (35) that rotates the dial as the lever is depressed. The digits to be dialled are defined by inserting bars on appropriate length into the slots.
