The seat with adjustable inclination back rest is used esp. in motor vehicles. Pivoting fitting is arranged on both sides of the seat between the seat and back rest. One pivot arrangement has internal gear wheel engaging with the spur gear on other pivot. Both parts of pivot are connected by rotating eccentric connected to a handle and both eccentric are connected to the end of a transmission shaft. The radial play due to production in the transmission of the adjusting mechanism is eliminated so that the unloaded back rest is not able to cause rattling noises. The ends of the transmission shaft(32) are loaded relative to each other in torsion. The transmission shaft(32) consists at least of two interconnected shaft sections which are connected at their joint by adjustable torsion angle sleeve.
