A tachograph for use in automobiles is used to provide a record of the immediate speed history together with the mileage reading. The mileage counter drive is coupled to the bevel gearing that provides rotation movement of the drum over which is passed the speed recording film. The film is moved such that a printing head - that moves on a slide at a proportional rate - traces a velocity characteristic. An erasing strip eliminates the graph as it passes the underside.
