摘要 <p>Synthetic fibres are produced by dissolving >=1 polymer, (I), and a polymeric nucleating agent, (II), in a solvent, with heating, e.g. to 110-140 degrees C, and slowly cooling the soln. under const. motion caused by stirring, vibration or acoustic irradiation. Pref. (I) is a soluble, linear, organic polyalkene, e.g. isotactic polybutene, polystyrene or poly(4-Me-pentene-l), and (II) an isotactic, crystalline polyalkenem e.g. isotactic polypropylene or polyethylene. (I) may also be an atactic, non-crystalline polymer, e.g. an acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene terpolymer, a propylene-acrylic acid copolymer or mixts. of polyvinylidene fluoride with a terpolymer of C2F4, C3F6 and CH2=CF2, while (II) is an isotactic high mol. wt. polyalkene, esp. polypropylene. Fibres and fibre-compsns. obtd. can be used in the mfr. of paper, cloth, felt, mats, nonwoven fabrics and ropes. Fibre compsns. can be divided to form mono-filaments or fibre bundles, also used in paper and felt mfr. The fibres can also be used in the prodn. of fibre- reinforced castings and injection-mouldings. The fibres can also be impregnated with a thermosetting resin, to form heat-resistant composite materials. Fibres are obtd. from polymers which do not normally form fibres.</p>
