Tubs (3) for documents etc. are carried on a main conveyor (2) in the direction of arrow (4). A curved diverter (12) has one end pivoted about a horizontal axis (11) normal to the direction of movement (4). Its other end (12') overlaps a secondary conveyor (8). The pit oval bearing for the diverter (12) is carried by a platform (10) on the frame of conveyor (2). A plate (15) journalled on rod (14) of a jack (13), extends beneath the diverter so that on extension of the jack the diverter is raised. This allows the tubs (3) to continue along the conveyor (2). When the diverter is lowered the tubs are diverted to the secondary conveyor (8).
