Variable length windscreen wiper arm - has telescopic sections secured by ratchet and locking spring

The inner arm of the windscreen wiper is hollow and serves to guide a flat extension arm which is pulled out to set the length of the wiper arm to suit the particular windscreen. The extension has ratchet holes into which is clipped the free end of a locating spring inside the inner arm. The wiper reach is easily adjusted without any tools and without removing the wiper. A universal fitting wiper can thus be used for many type of vehicles, with few components in each.
