1535659 Orthopaedic appliances INSTI TUT NATIONAL DE LA SANTE ET DE LA RECHERCHE MEDICALE 22 July 1977 [23 July 1976 13 May 1977] 30963/77 Heading A5R A splint assembly for enabling parolytics to stand erect comprises support pieces 1-5 positionable around respective body parts, each support piece including a plurality of inflatable tubes for extending vertically over the outer side of the body part, each support piece being held on the body part by at least one belt comprising strips 11a, 11b of unstretchable material, and mechanical supporting devices 6-9, each connecting together two vertically adjacent support pieces, each supporting device comprising two rows of pins connected by an articulation, each row of pins being attached to the inflatable tubes of a respective support piece. The mechanical supporting devices have a latch for locking the articulation. Preferably, one set of pins is removably secured to the articulation. The inflatable tubes are preferably of rectangular cross section, the widths of the tubes at the centre of each support piece being greater than those towards the side edges thereof.
