Flat wood chip producing cutter - has grooves in front surfaces of blades with inner cutting edges on same circle

The cutter for producing flat wood chips of set length has a rake angle which varies between the leading and trailing ends of the blade. The blades define an acute cutting angle with the spindle axis, and their outside cutting edges all lie on the same circle. Where there are blades (1) with alternating outside (2) and immediately adjacent inside (3) cutting edges, the former are in the form of grooves (4) of varying depth in the front of each blade. The dimensions are such that all the internally sited cutting edges lie on the same circle.
