The grinder for wood shavings has a rotor with trapezoidal blades (5) which are cut-away on the intake side, and have rasp surfaces on their working faces. The rasps occupy all the space inside the casing (7) and then sloping lower parts create a partial vacuum in the direction of the axial inlet pipe. The casing is pref. cylindrical, and has an annular collection chamber which receives the shredded shavings through a cylindrical sieve (9). The lower part of the coding pref. has a collecting hopper and an outlet.
