The support is for a gas or water conducting pipe, housed in an outer pipe which is laid in the ground. The retainer encompasses the inner pipe and locates with at least a part of its radial outer circumferential surface against the inner wall of the outer cover pipe. The distance retainer has at the point where it locates against the outer cover pipe a roller to reduce friction between retainer and pipe. The rollers are rotatable around an axis vertical to the lengthways axis of the inner pipe. The rollers are rotatably retained in bearing housings on the outside of the distance retainer.
