During welding, such as of sheet material 38, material is clamped in place 33,34,35 in a location spaced from, but alongside a welding zone 18a,18b. In particular the type of bonding may be radio frequency or RF bonding with electrodes provided at 18a, 18b. The clamping mechanism may reduce the risk of the welded plastic material 38 stretching sideways or tearing during the welding process, if the plastic material is under tension. |
