A track jump control circuit is provided to prevent formation of unnecessary pulse and dropout in the pulse train of a binarized tracking error signal. A track jump control circuit comprises a counter(1513), a holding circuit(1514), a correction process circuit(1517), and a selector(1518). The counter counts the edge interval of the binarized tracking error signal. The holding circuit holds the count value obtained by the counter. The correction process circuit generates a correction signal of the binarized tracking error signal, using the count value held in the holding circuit and the binarized tracking error signal. The selector selectively outputs the binarized tracking error signal or the correction signal according to a header unit detection signal indicating passage of the optical pickup through the header unit.
