Window frames made from extruded sections of aluminium alloy are fitted with hinges which must retain the window securely but at the same time permit some adjustment during assembly. This is achieved by forming lips (8a) on the edges of the hinge (1). These lips fit inside the longitudinal grooves of the aluminium section. A hole is tapped near the lugs (8b) of the hinge (1) to receive a grub screw (11). The grub screw clamps the lip of the hinge against the overhanging flange (4) of the window frame section. Alternatively, a notch maybe cut in the flange to allow the screw to pass through and press against the main web of the aluminium section.
|
