Perforated flat disc cathode for battery - with lithium anode and anhydrous electrolyte, giving high capacity, used e.g. in digital watches

Flat disc cathode for galvanic cells with a Li anode and an anhydrous electrolyte is perforated, so that the ratio of the area of the hole to the total area of the disc is 0.02-0.3. The hole pref. is circular and concentric in the disc. These batteries can be used for long periods and under highly variable current loadings, e.g. in electronic watches with digital displays. Very small cells can be made and the useful cathode capacity is close to the theoretical capacity.
