<p>Ozone for cars and other special purposes is produced in a device with a cylindrical glass body. Each end has a cover with openings for air inlet. It has a shaft down the centre which acts as a rotor with plastic discs carrying contacts. These line up with contacts on the inner surface of the cylinder. The shaft is connected to a drum on the outside of the cylinder contg. a contact breaker and a condenser, together with the requisite cable connections. The switching creates high voltage sparking. As the shaft rotates, the notched edge causes the contact breaker to operate when the electrical contacts line up in the cylinder. In this way the air stream is subjected to a series of spark discharges and ozone is formed. For use on motor vehicles where environmental pressure necessitates fume suppression. It can also be used to protect the vehicle driver from external influences by allowing an ozone rich stream to enter the vehicle and disinfect it. It can be used on the air intake to improve engine performance.</p> |
