<p>The furniture castor wheel consists of a support block (1) provided with a pivot (4) which is fixed to the base of a piece of furniture. The block has a rectangular slot (7) with a sharp edged base (15) in which locates a bearing (8) and a spring block (9) made from plastic or rubber. Two bores (11, 12) traverse the edges of the slot and the block and two pins (11a, 12a) locate into these bores to secure the bearing and spring block. The bearing has a central axle (16), the two extremities of which carry a castor wheel, the wheels having inwardly projecting circumferential flanges which fit over brake shoes attached to the block. When the piece of furniture is loaded the brakes are released.</p> |
