The information is supplied to a coincidence detector 11 which also receives from a buffer register 8 the selected items of the previous information group, noncoincidence causing a flip-flop 5 to be set to enable an AND gate 9 to pass the information to an OR gate 10, coincidence causing gate 9 to be disabled. The identifying numbers of the selected items are entered in a memory 1 which, together with a counter 3, is reset by each group positioning code R e . The counter 3 is advanced by each item positioning code C p as is the memory 1 for the selected items. When a coincidence detector 6 detects coincidence between the outputs of memory 1 and counter 3 this indicates a selected item, and enables, via an AND gate 7, shifting of buffer register 8, partially enables AND gate 9 and disables an AND gate 14. When coincidence detector 6 detects non-coincidence this indicates a non-selected item, disables AND gate 9 and shifting of buffer register 8 and enables AND gate 14 to pass the information to OR gate 10. The information from OR gate 10 may be stored in a memory (15, Fig. 6, not shown) from which it is subsequently read out and processed using a further buffer memory (28) to derive the original information with the eliminated digits re-inserted. |
