IMPROVEMENTS IN AND RELATING TO DISPLAY PRIVACY FILTERS

A filter (22) is used between a display screen (24) and the viewer. By controlling how image information to be displayed is supplied to pixels (26a, 26b) in the display screen (24) a switchable filtering effect is achieved, allowing simple control over the viewing angle properties of the display screen (24). The switchable privacy filtering effect is useful for example in ATM displays, where sensitive information is to be masked from "over-the-shoulder" onlookers.
