Current limiting circuit breaker - is constructed using stack of de-ionising sheets made of ceramic and gas emitting soft magnetic metals

A current limiting circuit breaker is designed to increase the speed of arc dissipation between mobile and static contacts. The effect is achieved by locating a stack of deionizing metallic sheets in the vicinity of the contact zone. The sheets (5) act to extinguish the arc and are comprised alternately of ceramic material and a material which can emit gas. The gas emitting material includes a soft magnetic metal.
