A closed metal housing (1) of the gas-blast circuit breaker is filled with a gas which is suitable for use as an extinguishing and insulating gas. In order to prevent condensation of the gas in an economical manner, the housing (1) is provided with heat insulation (10) which covers the lower part of the housing. Heat which is produced in the interior of the housing (1) can be radiated away without impediment via the upper part of the housing (1). Furthermore, an electrical heating element (12) is arranged close to the base inside the housing (1), which heating element (12) is switched on at low temperatures and whose power can be dimensioned to be less than in the case of a non-insulated housing. <IMAGE>
