The electromagnet has a telescopic armature which consists of several sections. It can be operated on single or three phase a.c. and d.c. The dimensions are considerably reduced compared to conventional designs and the armature can travel over a longer distance requiring a smaller force. The magnetic core (2) with a coil (3) is mounted on a base plate (1). The armature (5) is mounted in a hole (4) in the coil, in the form of a square tube. The telescopic effect will produce a greater armature travel. The laminar of the armature are angular and held together by a rivet.
