Appts. to open up felting or wadding, such as loose flocking material or rovings of flyer yarns such as fine titre staple fibres of cotton or cellulose or synthetics, has a continuous drafting band and a continuous pressure band angled downwards against it in front of an opening roller. The pressure band partially loops round the drafting band supported by individual and adjacent times forming a curved trough lying parallel to the drafting roller axis. Arrangement ensures that the material is carried smoothly and without stoppages through the drafting roller zone to give no machine damage on the one side, and consistent operation on the other hand.
