Viroimmunoenzymological method for the determn. of non-proteic materials ligands) comprises mixing the ligand with a known quantity of anti-ligand immunoserum, adding modified phages to neutralise the initial free anti-ligand, adding of bacteria which are non-constitutive for a given endocellular enzyme such that the modified phages cause bacterialysis which is measured by means of the liberation, in the medium, of the selected endocellular enzyme. Suitable ligands which may be measured in this way, include heptens, hormones, prostaglandins, drugs (such as penicilloyl, aspirin), polysaccharides and nucleic acids.
