The door(5) moves between the open and closed positions by a combined rotational and translatory movement with a hinge-plate(1) extending between vertical hinges (3, 6) on the door(5) and a frame post(4). The door hinge(6) may attach to the adjacent quarter point in the door width. The unlatched edge of the door, thus, moves perpendicularly to the door-opening as the leaf pivots. The arrangement reduces the projection of the door into a room to a demi-width, and is primarily for industrial usage. In addn. a mechanism is provided to guide the movement of the leaf. A runner(7) may be provided on a vertical axle (10) which projects from the head(12) of the door(5) at mid-width. The runner(7) slides in a track(8) which is built longitudinally into the head(9) of the door frame. Two pulleys wheels may be positioned on the head of the door and on vertical axles through the hinges(3, 6), the post pulley(3) being of a greater dia. and the pulleys being traversed by an endless belt.
