The stepwise discharge and transportation of a particulate material of large size, such as a loose material or a material comprising fabricated products, involves the use of a turntable. The material is discharged by means of a device which vibrates on a rotating annular plate, the material being transferred from the plates as successive particles towards a travelling band.
