<p>The elastic underlay floor slab is made of rubber, or rubber-type plastics, with recesses varying in volume according to the loading on the panel. This is esp. suitable as an intermediate layer in a road or railway track super-structure where it supports rails or rail chairs. In the unloaded state of the slab (4) the recesses (5) are open towards the surface. They are fitted with peripheral lips (15), rising above the plane of the slab surface, pressed down to lie close together with a sealing effect, below this plane, when the slab is built into position. Where the recesses, in the slab's unloaded state, are circular in cross section, the lips can be truncated wedge-shaped in cross section, with straight external flank and concave curved internal flank. The recesses are protected from dirt and moisture penetration affording improved volume resilience.</p> |
