DEVICE FOR CENTRIFUGAL CASTING OF HOLLOW BODY WITH ASYMMETRICAL CROSS-SECTION

A device adapted for the production of a hollow body having an extension in a built-up metal mould provided with a lining. The spinning axis of the built-up metal mould is essentially coaxial with the mould longitudinal axis. As a result the filling of the cavity provided in the mould with molten metal causes a progressive unbalance of the device. In order to offset this unbalance, provision is made for a movable weight travelling radially relative to the spinning axis of the metal mould as the unbalance progresses. By virtue of the present invention, the mould and core sand requirement is substantially reduced, and the molten metal requirement is reduced by 30 to 50%.
