1504568 Bearings GLACIER METAL CO Ltd 16 March 1977 11161/77 Addition to 1436189 Heading F2A In a structural bearing, e.g. a bridge bearing, comprising a part-spherical bearing surface 11 (e.g. of aluminium) co-operating with a correspondingly shaped bearing surface 13 (e.g. of steel) plastics bearing layers 16 and 23 are provided on surfaces 11 and 13 respectively, the two layers being made of different plastics material and the edge of layer 16 being engaged in a groove 14 formed around the edges of surface 11. Clamps 19, 20 hold the assembly together until it is used. Bearing layers of P.T.F.E., polyacetal, polyphenylene sulphide and polyoxymethylene are disclosed. A further groove 24 may engage the edge of the other bearing layer 23. |
