Products, especially in viticulture, can be distributed over the ground or into the ground by apparatus mounted on a tractor hitch. A hopper contains a granular product which is expelled by a metering shaft (2) driven by belt or chain (5) and tined ground driven wheel (8). The grain drops through trap (4) to the ground. Wheel (8) may be raised by chain (11) to the same level as coulter (7). A flexible conduit may be used to replace the trap (4) and takes the grain for discharge adjacent the coulter. The coulter opens the ground so that the grain drops in and the soil is closed over it by a tractor wheel.
