1528935 Pipe clamps A GRASSI 5 Nov 1975 [20 Nov 1974] 45900/75 Heading E2B A pipe clamp consists of a first clamping member 2, a second clamping member 4, a strainer 6, and a nut 8; the first member 2 consists of a length of wire formed into a semi circular arc portion 10, the wire being bent at one end into a loop 12 and having at its other end a straight threaded portion 14 while the second member 4 is formed of a length of wire bent double into a U-shape and further bent as a semi circle of the same radius as that of the first member 2, the bight portion of the U-shape being out-turned to form a loop 18 and the free ends of the wire being bent to form out-turned portions 20. The loop 18 is received in the loop 12 to form a hinge connection between members 2, 4 and the threaded portion 14 passes between portions 20 and through a bore 28 in one limb of the strainer 6 which is L-shaped to close the clamping members 2, 4 around a pipe. The nut 8 is tightened to draw the members 2, 4 into clamping engagement with the pipe. The clamping members 2, 4 adjacent the points of overlap 34, 36 may be subjected to a coining operation at locations 38. |
