摘要 <p>1529226 Pipes BEKAERT SA NV 24 May 1976 [5 June 1975] 24300/75 Heading F2P Reinforced plastics articles, e.g. pipes, are characterized in that the reinforcing material comprises at least one layer of a combination of glass fibres and steel cord (i.e. at least two wire strands twisted together) with fibres and cords connected in the same direction. The steel cord may be in the form of woven or non-woven fabric or alternatively woven into a fabric with the cord constituting the warp and a synthetic fibre, e.g. nylon, polyester constituting the weft: the cord may itself be a coreless structure of twisted wires or comprise a core strand with a plurality of further wires twisted thereabout. The plastics material may be thermoplastic or thermosetting; examples of the latter being polyester, epoxy phenolic, melamine-formaldehyde, resorcinol-formaldehyde, and ureaformaldehyde resins or polyurethanes as well as thermosetting copolymers, and may in addition contain a dry filler, e.g. inorganic material constituting up to 60% of the total. Several such reinforcing layers may be combined via sheet, preferably separated by a reinforcing substructure comprising at least one glass fibre, e.g. resin impregnated mat layer. In a filament winding process shown for forming a reinforced plastics article as described, parallel resin impregnated glass rovings 1 and non-impregnated steel cords 2 are advanced to a guiding system 3 which moves axially of a mandrel 4 simultaneously laying the cord and glass fibre rovings in axial strips which are helically bound by threads 5 from a winding system 6 which moves with the system to effect the embedding of the cords into the rovings after each strip is layed and bound, the system returns to the initial position and the mandrel is rotated sufficiently to present an adjacent area for receiving a further strip. Alternatively (Figs. 5, 6, not shown) the axial strips may be carried by circumferentially arranged bobbins on a guiding system in the form of a ring like framework and layed simultaneously as the system is threaded down the mandrel. In an alternative process suitable for producing tapered tubes (Fig. 3, not shown) a frustoconical mandrel is employed; the reinforcing layer being shaped to the development of the mandrel surface and sandwiched between a support table and the mandrel which is rotated to wrap the layer thereabout.</p>
