Compounds of the formula wherein R is hydrogen; alkyl of 1 to 13 carbon atoms; alkyl of 1 to 13 carbon atoms substituted with alkoxycarbonyl of 2 to 4 carbon atoms; acyl of 2 to 4 carbon atoms; acyloxy of 2 to 4 carbon atoms or cyano; acyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms; alkoxycarbonyl of 2 to 4 carbon atoms; aralkyl of 7 to 10 carbon atoms; or a metal selected for the group consisting of sodium, potassium, calcium manganese, zinc, copper and iron; R1 is alkoxy of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or -NR2R3; R2 is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms; alkoxy carbonyl of 2 to 4 carbon atoms or ; R3 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, with the proviso that R3 is H when R2 is alkoxycarbonyl or ; R4 and R5 may be the same or different and are hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms; and X is oxygen or sulfur; are useful in preventing fungus diseases of plants. Of the compounds described above, the compounds where R4 and R5 are defined as above and R6 is alkyl of 1 to 13 carbon atoms; alkyl of 1 to 13 carbon atoms substituted with alkoxycarbonyl of 2 to 4 carbon atoms, acyl of 2 to 4 carbon atoms, acyloxy 2 to 4 carbon atoms or cyano; acyl of to 4 carbon atoms; or aralkyl of 7 to 10 carbon atoms are novel. Of the novel compounds, the compound wherein R4 and R5 are hydrogen and R6 is methyl is preferred. In the Supplementary Disclosure2-cyano-2-methoxyimino-N-methylcarbamolyacetamide, 2-cyano-N-ethylcarbamoyl-2-methoxyiminoacetamide, 2-cyano-2 ethoxyimino-N-ethylcarbamoylacetamide; 2-cyano-2-methoxyimino-N-propylcarbamoylacetamide and compounds of the forumla wherein R4 is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or allyl, and R is alkyl of 1 to 13 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl of 5 to 7 carbon atoms or alkenyl of 3 to 6 carbon atoms, provide that when R is alkyl, R4 is allyl, are also disclosed as being useful in preventing fungus diseases in plants.
