<p>The mounting is for a vehicle front steering wheel with positive toe-in and a brake, having a transverse supporting arm coupling the stub shaft to the chassis via a ball-joint. Arm movement is limited by a tube with resilient cushions coupling it to a stabiliser bar, and steering is by a track rod acting via a support arm so as to slew the stub shaft. In plan view, the angle (a) between the transverse supporting arm (11) and a plane at right angles to the vehicle travel direction is > that (beta) between the track rod and this plane. Thus with a diagonally-split braking system an inwards-steering effect is produced on the properly-braked front wheel.</p> |
