PURPOSE:To provide hydrous oxide supported on a carrier having a high mechanical strength and high reactivity, by impregnating a carrier with micro-structure having specific pore diameter and specific surface area with a solution containing a metal compound capable of forming hydrous oxide by hydrolysis and then subjecting the impregnated carrier to hydrolysis in a gas phase at a high temperature.
