New heterocyclic cpds. have formula (I) (wher R1 is H, alkyl, or Ph or naphthyl opt. mono-or di-substd. by alkyl, alkoxy, Cl,Br or -NO2; R2 and R3 are F, Cl, Br, OH, alkoxy, amino, alkylamino, or phenylamino, naphthylamino or N-Ph-N-alkylamino opt. mono- or di-substd. by alkyl, alkoxy, Cl, br or -NO2; R4 is H, Cl, Br, -NO2, alkoxy, alkylcarbonylamino or benzoylamino; A is N or >= C-R5 and R5 is H, Cl, Br or alkyl. The alkyl and alkoxy gps. contain 1-4C).(I) are intermediates, esp. coupling components, for the prepn. of dyes, esp. pigment dyes. Pigments coupled with diazotised amines are used for dyeing plastics, e.g. for spin-dyeing viscose or cellulose acetate and for pigmenting polyethylene, polystyrene, PVC, rubber and synthetic leather; as printing inks, for paper colouring in bulk, and for pigment printing.
