A compsn. comprises (a) an alkyd. resin one of the constituents of which is the residue of a polyalkyleneglycol which is water-soluble and pref. of mol. wt. 100-10000; (b) an oxyethylene/oxypropyelene copolymer and (c) a nonionic surfactant other than (b). The compsn. contains 1-20 pts. (a), 0.1-10 pts. (b), 1-20 pts. (c) and apt. 5-100 pts. solvent. The compsn. is diluted with water, kerosene, xylenes, white spirit, a 6-20 C hydrocarbon mixt. or a glycol ehter in amt. 5-10000 pts. The compsn. is used for cleaning surfaces contaminated with oil and other hydrophobic organic materials, e.g. tanks, engines and in metal degreasing. The compsn. apart from its efficacy does not form a stable emulsion with the hydrocarbon material to be cleaned off. |
