1527937 Transport containers WESTERWALDER EISENWERK GERHARD GmbH 20 Oct 1976 [29 Oct 1975] 43419/76 Heading B8P [Also in Division F4] A double-walled transport container for flowable materials comprises a lattice structure 1, saddle members 2 and a receptacle provided with support flanges 5 secured to the saddle members 2, the receptacle comprising an outer vessel 9 including upper and lower shells 15, 6, an inner vessel 10 and a layer of shock absorbing and thermally insulating material 11, 12. The flanges 5 are preferably welded to the lower shell 6 and attached to the saddle members 2 by bolts 19b, Fig. 3, which also retain the upper shell 15 in position. Alternatively, Fig. 4, the upper shell 15 may be welded to the lower shell 6 or to the flanges 5 (not shown). Preformed elements 12 of foamed material support the inner vessel 10 when it is initially positioned on the lower shell 6, the space between the vessels 9, 10 being filled, e.g. with foamed polyurethane applied through apertures 23 after the upper shell 15 has been attached. End members 7, 8 may be welded to the lower shell 6 prior to assembly, and the outer vessel 9 may be of steel, the inner one 10 being preferably of steel, glass fibre-reinforced plastics, aluminium or aluminium alloy. |
