Hydrocarbon-conversion catalysts comprise (a) 0-15 (pref 3-12) wt.% of a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite; (b) 50-85 (pref. 55-75) wt.% of an inorganic oxide gel; and (c) 15-50 (pref. 20-35) wt.% of a porous adsorbent having an initial specific surface of >100 (&ref. >200) m2/g and having a pore vol. distribution such that >=0.2 cm3/g of the pore vol. is in pores of dia. 90-200 angstroms. Component (a), if present, is pref. a faujasite-type zeolite with a pore dia. of 6-15 angstroms, a SiO2/Al2O3 ratio of >3 and an alkali metal content of 10 wt.%. Component (b) is pref. a silica gel or a silica-alumina cogel. Component (c) can comprise Al2O3, SiO2, TiO2 and/or MgO, and is pref. Al2O3, SiO2, TiO2 and/or MgO, and is pref. Al2O3 or SiO2 with low cracking activity. The catalysts are esp. useful for cracking heavy feeds contg. metal contaminants. Incorporation of the adsorbent increases the activity of the catalysts and minimises the effect of the metal contaminants (reduces coke and H2 prodn.).
|
