The laundry bag is designed for self-discharge into a washing machine. It comprises a single rectangular cloth strip whose shorter edges are straight, while the longer edges between them are slightly concave, running in hyperbola curves. On filling, the longer edges are placed round the contents so as to overlap each other, while the shorter ones are closed by rucking together and tying. Hook-pile fastening strips can be used to hold them in place. The distance between the mid-points of the longer edges can be between 15 and 25% less than the length of the shorter edges.
