The pressure regulator esp. for anti-lock systems on vehicle brakes comprises a cylindrical block at each end of which are windings (10) and cores (9) of electromagnets. The inner ends of the cores are tapered and project into a chamber in the centre of the block. The chamber is divided into halves by a piston which has tapered bores fitting the profiles of the magnet core ends. The piston has a central bore connecting both halves of the chamber and a cross drilling (5) which allows hydraulic fluid to pass from the main line inlet (1) to the controlled circuit (8). The inlet has three branches, each fitted with a non-return valve (6a-b) (7).
