Gas partial pressure sensor - uses electrode enclosed by hollow sleeve with pervious membrane across its end

The partial pressure sensor e.g. for process gases, uses an electrode (1) inserted in an electrode holder (10), surrounded by a hollow sleeve (2), with a gas pervious membrane (206) across the end of the sleeve (2). The latter also contains an auxiliary line (203) with one end adjacent the membrane (206) on the inside of the sleeve (2). Water is initially fed down the auxiliary line (203) until the end of the latter adjacent the membrane (206) is well covered, the electrode lying above the water surface. A reference gas can then be fed down the auxiliary line (203), with a piston (11) attached to the electrode holder (10), cooperating with the sleeve (2) to throttle the reference gas.
