1525763 Tetrasaccharide-heptapeptide derivatives AGENCE NATIONALE DE VALORISATION DE LA RECHERCHE 2 Aug 1976 [5 Aug 1975] 32081/76 Heading C3H Derivatives with immunological adjuvant activity obtained from hydrosoluble extracts of mycobacteria, the derivatives being a tetrasaccharide-heptapeptide and/or dimer, trimer or tetramer of the cell wall of the mycobacteria, including long chain aliphatic residues, the tetrasaccharide-heptapeptide or its dimer, trimer or tetramer being optionally associated with non-amino reducing sugars, have the general formula in which m is 1, 2, 3 or 4, n is a whole number at least equal to I, R is alkyl (C 9-17 ), NAG is N- acetylglucasamine, NAM is N-acetylmuramic acid, Ala is alanine, Glu is glutaric acid, DAP isα,α<SP>1</SP>-diaminopimelic acid and the bond "===" represents a covalent linkage or the total absence of a linkage. The hydrosoluble extract may be extracted from Mycobacterium tuberculosis, var hominis, H 37 Ra strain, Test strain, Brevares strain or Peurois strain; Mycobacterium Ransasii, Mycobacterium tuberculosis var. bovis, LA and BB strain, or Behring strain; or Mycobacterium phlei. The derivative may have the following molecular composition in amino acids: clarine (3), glutamic acid (2) andα,α<SP>1</SP>-diaminopimelic acid (2).
