<p>1525363 Electrical connectors A P PRODUCTS Inc 26 Jan 1977 [9 Feb 1976] 03174/77 Heading H2E An electrical cable and terminal assembly comprises a cable H including a plurality of conductors insulated from one another, a plurality of electrical contacts 12 each including terminal means connected to at least one conductor 13 of the cable 11 directly through insulation thereof and contacting means for electrically connecting to an external member engageable therewith, and a housing 14 including a base for holding the contacts 12 and cable 11 in a relatively fixed position, the base including a body 15 moulded about at least a portion of each contact 12 and about a portion of the cable 11 so that the base, contacts and cable form an integral structure. As described the assembly may be located at an end of the cable 11 as shown, or at a location intermediate the ends thereof. The housing may include a cover 16 welded to the body 15 and the contacts 12 which are of aluminium may have forked contacting portions 18 or merely comprise a point to be soldered in plated through openings. Electrical connection to the cable conductors 13 is achieved by arms 22 which penetrate the cable insulation. Apertures 28 in the moulded body 15 allows entry of a test probe when desired. The moulding of the body 15 prevents moisture entry to the electrical connection between the contacts and the cable and also provides strain relief.</p> |
