Manually operated smoke vent for buildings - has cover held by normally sealed cable released remotely by hand in event of fire

The smoke vent has a fixed rectangular section which is attached to a partition by screws (11). A rectangular cover is held to the fixed section by a hinge at the bottom. The cover is opened by a spring inside the release box and is held closed by a cable (13) fixed to the bottom end of the cover and running through a gland at the top of the fixed section. A plug (9) keeps the cable in position and prevents excessive operation of the release. It is slackened by a hand wheel (10) which is normally sealed (12). In case of fire the seal is broken and the cable pulled and released.
