The twist-grip throttle control for a motorcycle incorporates gearing so that the cable drum rotates either faster or more slowly than the manually actuated grip. The grip rotates relative to the handlebar (1) and is connected to a flange (4) with a pair of toothed planet wheels (5, 8). The planet wheels engage with the toothed inner surface of the fixed housing, and with a sun wheel (7) which drives the cable drum (12). The drum thus rotates faster than the grip. Alternatively, reduction gearing results from connecting the sun wheel to the grip and mounting the planet wheels on the cable drum. Respective applications permit full throttle opening with a single wrist movement, and sensitive throttle control.
