The appliance for spreading e.g. adhesive over a floor, uses a toothed comb. A container (19) with one or more outlets (18) is supported above two or more rollers (12), inside a frame with a grip (29). A piston-shaped lid (26) slides downwards inside the containers, and is actuated by the grip through e.g. a rack. The toothed comb (15) is fastened to the container so as to adjust itself vertically to the surface to be coated. The rollers have a horizontal axis (13), and are fastened to the lower end of a frame with the round container mounted above them. The outlet extends into the container, and is formed as a connection to a plastic bag (32), which contains the coating material, and protects the container interior. The comb is fastened to levers (14), hinged to the roller axis.
