Therapeutic gypsum bandages of varying hardness and strength are made by homogeneously mixing alpha and/or beta hemi-hydrate in an inert organic liq. pref. an alcohol, alcohol mixt. and/or CH2Cl2. The ratio of organic liq. to hemi-hydrate or hemi-hydrate mixt is regulated so that in spite of different mixing ratios of alpha and/or beta hemi-hydrate, homogeneous suspensions are obtd. having a viscosity such as to allow faultless deposition on carrier fabric. Wear impact resistance and breaking strength can be varied as desired and adjusted w.r.t. ultimate use. Suspensions yielding a faultless coating can be obtd. for each mixing ratio.
