Separation of solid particles from a gas stream - esp. at degasifying outlet of a worm extruder

Device includes a cylindrical housing provided with an inlet for the stream of gas, and an outlet for the gas. Between these there is a worm which rotates with a little free-movement in the housing for impelling the solid particles separated from the gas towards the inlet. The worm is in the form of a spiral strip with its central zone open to permit the passage of the gas. In this central zone separators are positioned to project the solid particles in the gas flow against the housing wall. Arrangement is esp. applicable to the degasifying outlet of a worm extruder, and returns the solid particles without restricting in any way the flow of gas.
